CRYPT OF SAINT DEMETRIUS

The crypt where, according to tradition, the patron saint of Thessaloniki was martyred in the 4th century AD. Its entrance is located next to the right pillar of the Holy Bema of the church of Saint Demetrius and leads to the place of the saint’s martyrdom, situated in an area that was part of the city’s large Roman bath complex.
