CHURCH OF AGIA SOFIA
The building was constructed in the first quarter of the 8th century, and its architectural style is a basilica with a dome, of transitional type, transitioning from a “basilica with a dome” to a “domed cruciform church.” Various construction and compositional imperfections, such as the non-circular base of the dome, indicate that it belongs to this transitional phase. Internally, the church is divided into three aisles by alternating columns and piers, forming a building with an almost square plan.
